
You know those tests kids take in the first grade? The first time they have to fill in a sheet of paper covered in little dots. Well, that test told us some big news about one of my twins: Justin. Can’t. Read.
So along with a fellow parent and co-worker—Paul McCusker—I dove into the world of historical fiction for kids. Especially boys. I wanted to create some stories that had action and adventure but were easy to read. And one last thing—they needed lasting value. So we put in Christian history and some good role models.
I’ve been a professional writer and editor since joining the staff of Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr. magazines in 1987. I have edited dozens of books and hundreds of magazine articles.
